Pumpkin Fun and Weekly Update November 5, 2012

Filed under: Learning Stories,Weekly Updates — mrsmarshallkd @ 12:46 am

Hey Parents! Can’t believe it is already November! It is another 4 day week, one that we will be spending most of our time on Remembrance Day activities. We will be focussing on the number 5 in math. In literacy we will be reading books around the theme of Remembrance Day and Peace. We will be covering the letter B and the sight words like, the, see, & can.

We are having so much fun with the vegetable stand, so much social learning going on there.

On Halloween Day we enjoyed not only a party in the afternoon, but we were able to have some pumpkin fun as well. We asked some questions about pumpkins and were able to find out the answers.

1.Can a pumpkin float?

Why Yes, yes it does!

2. Can you estimate how much string it will take to go around a pumpkin?

More of us over-estimated the circumference of the pumpkin, some of us under-estimated the circumference, but Four of us were just about right!

3. Do all pumpkins weigh the same?

No, but there were pretty close!

4. Do all pumpkins have the same amount of seeds?

No, it depends on the size of the pumpkin.

Here are a few things to remember for the week:

Monday night 6:30- Home and School Meeting

Friday: No School- PD Day

Monday Nov. 12- No School for Remembrance Day

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please let me know!

Here’s to the first week of November!!!
