Hello Parents,

It’s the last week in May. You may think things will be winding down, but some things are just beginning! Like, our writing and reading have both just exploded! If you could read all of the books that we have been writing, you would see how far we have come! And in our reading, we are putting together all of the concepts we have been working on all year-it’s so exciting to see! This is the best time of year to be in kindergarten.

Here’s what we’re up to this week:
Today we are making our “Hair Heads”. We have a big book that shows us how to do this, so we are going to see how easy it is to follow directions (also, it is a great example of writing a “How To” book).

In math we are learning about 3D shapes, and enjoying some of the fun activities that go along with this.

We will be sending guided reading books home this week, look for them Tuesday in your child’s book bag.

Please remember there is No School FRIDAY! for kindergarten. All other grades have school.

Here are some more notes:

School Supply Fee

It is that time of year, when we collect the school supplies fees for the 2014-2015 school year. The cost per child is $35.00. This fee can be paid on line on the following website: www.schoolonline.com or you can send in the money to your homeroom teacher and they will issue a receipt. The deadline for school supply fees are Friday, June 6.

SunSense Guidelines
It is possible to enjoy healthy outdoor activities while in the sun:

1. Reduce sun exposure between 11 a.m. and 4 p.m.

2. Seek shade or create your own shade.

3. Slip on clothing to cover your arms or legs.

4. Slap on a wide-brimmed hat.
5. Slop on a sunscreen with SPF # 15 or higher.
6. Keep babies under one year out of direct sun.

7. Tanning parlours and sunlamps are not a safe way to tan.
Following the SunSense guidelines will help protect yourself and your family from the sun.
