Apparently, I don’t know my alphabet backwards very well because I forgot about the letter X in our alphabet countdown! So, I’ve added it to this week:

Monday- X: x-ray day- everyone wear black and white

Tuesday (back on track)- U- Under the Sea day- we’ll have a beach theme

Wednesday- T- T-Shirt Day- wear your favourite t-shirt

Thursday- S- SuperHero day-

Friday- R- Robots- building robots!

We’re doing a review of our letters each day as well. Even though Guided Reading books aren’t going home, we are still working on reading in class.

In Math we are learning about 3D shapes. We are having a good time with this unit, learning about sphere, cylinders, cubes, and cones.

We continue with our daily writing. I am so impressed with the quality of their writing. I hope you get a chance to read their work!

Our field trip is scheduled for June 16 with the rain date as June 17. More information will be forthcoming.

As always, any questions, let me know!

We have some minor changes ahead as we get closer to the end of the school year. We will not be bringing guided reading books home from now on. We will still be working on our reading in class, but we’ll cut that step out of our routine.

We are doing a backwards alphabet countdown starting today- letter Z. It even worked out that our show and share began with z. Here is the schedule for the week:

Wed- Letter Y: yellow. Everyone wear something yellow

Thurs- Letter W: Wacky Socks day. Everyone wear some wacky socks

Friday- Letter V: Video day. We’ll watch a short “video” during quiet time.

We are still planning our container garden for the window- thanks to those who sent things in!

Our end of the year field trip is scheduled for June 16 with a rain date for the 17th. We will be going to Kings Castle for the day. More information on this will be coming.

There have been some questions about an end of the year “graduation” for kindergarten. Now that we are a part of the school system, we do not have a separate celebration. We will be having an end of the year party on the 28th of June though!

As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me

The school year is beginning to wind down, but we still have lots of ¬†fun planned. We are working on a mural to go along with the book Over in the Meadow. We are also going to begin a window garden. To go along with that, we are reading the book The Carrot Seed. If you have any containers or extra seeds you’re willing to donate, please feel free to send them in!

In writing, we will be talking about how we can use our five senses to add to our descriptions.

In math we begin a brand new study of 3D shapes. This is always a fun unit to do.

If you have anything to donate to the “Pamper Yourself” basket for Spring Fling, please send that in at any time before May 25.

There is no school for Kindergarten on Friday as the new Kindergarten students will be in to visit. Enjoy an extra long weekend (since  Monday is a holiday too!)!

As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please let me know!

Mrs. Marshall

We have new visitors to our class! Tadpoles!

It was a busy week filled with concert preparation and plans for the upcoming weeks. We made sure to fit in some play and some creativity in there as well!

Full week ahead of us! Here’s what we’re focusing on:

We want to get back to really thinking about our reading and our writing, so that will be the big focus this week.

We’re starting a study on dirt and plants. We’ll be taking soil samples, comparing soil, planting a window garden with some veggies and some flowers.

In math we’re going to review all of our numeracy and pattern concepts before we move on to 3 D shapes and measuring.

On May 10, students in 1H will be collecting money for a fundraiser- they would like to “adopt” a Giant Panda. If you would like, please send in $1 for a popsicle order.

Have a great week!

Mrs. Marshall
