Just a reminder that Wednesday is Pajama day and Thursday is Red and Green Day!
December 19-22 December 19, 2016
Last few days of school, but we’re ready! This week we want to have a little extra fun, so we discussed it as a class and here is what we’ve come up with:
Tuesday (maybe) go for a walk. Dress appropriately.
Wednesday: Pajama day!!
Thursday: Wear Red and Green, and class party (after lunch until we go home)
We will be covering letters Y and Z and reviewing sight words introduced so far. Once January comes, we will begin Guided Reading! So much fun for the new year!
In math we will continue with patterns.
If you have any questions, please let me know!
Winter Fun December 15, 2016
With an early closure Monday, an hour delay on Tuesday, Bowling and an early closure today- is it any wonder this feels like the longest week of the year???? Add a full moon to it, and a week before the break- we are wound up and good to go!
Thought I’d share some pics of our bowling trip with you. The kids had a blast, they were so good too. They took turns, waited patiently, and were all around fun kids to be with!
We were fascinated by the ice forming on the bottom of the downspout. Some of the kids really wanted a picture of it, so here it is!
Everyone stay warm and cozy tonight! And I hope we don’t blow away!
December 12-16 December 13, 2016
It’s hard to believe we only have 8 more kindergarten days before our Christmas break! But we hope to make the most of them.
For the next two weeks we will be working on the letters W, X, Y, and Z. I want to finish all of the “starting corner” letters before we move on to our “Magic C curve” letters in January. Our sight words will remain the same, it and is. We are reading the book Something From Nothing which is based on a Hebrew folk tale. We will be looking into a variety of cultural celebrations as well.
We have been busy replacing our apples and pumpkins work with snowmen and snow flakes, it’s beginning to look very wintery around here!
We’ve been able to begin using our new Chrome books. It’s been fun learning to log in and play some games too!
We created pictures to go along with Dan the Flying Man where we are “flying”, and we created our own class calendar. We’ve been really busy!
In case anyone was wondering, we will not be having a Christmas concert. In April the kindergarten’s and grade 2s have a spring concert. We will be having a class party on the 22nd to celebrate completing the beginning of our year though!
Have a great week!
December 5-9 December 4, 2016
Our break is getting closer, but still lots of learning to happen between now and then! Here’s what’s up for this week:
Since last week was a bit unexpected with the storm day, we will be doing the letter U this week as well as the letter V. Our sight words will remain the same: it, is. We will also keep Dan the Flying Man as our big book for the week.
In math we will continue to explore with patterns and we will expand that into our science area as well.
Upcoming Dates to Remember:
-December 15: bowling in the morning. More information on this to come out later in the week.
-December 22: Last day of classes for 2016. School will resume on January 4th. We will be having a class party on the 22nd, and I am pretty sure there are some plans to make those last four days of school a little extra special.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns, let me know!
